What is lifecycle orphaned products?

An "orphaned product" is a product page that no other page on your website links to. Search engine crawlers discover pages by following links — if no page links to a product, crawlers may never find it (even if it's in your sitemap), and shoppers browsing your site will never stumble across it either. Every product page needs at least one internal link from a collection, category, related-products section, navigation menu, or editorial content pointing directly to it.

Orphaned products are effectively invisible: Google may not crawl or index them, meaning they earn zero organic traffic and generate zero sales. Even if a product is in your XML sitemap, Google treats sitemap-only URLs with lower priority than pages discovered through actual links — a crawl budget issue that hurts large catalogs most. Beyond SEO, shoppers browsing your store can never organically discover these products, cutting into conversion rates and revenue. Fixing orphaned products is one of the fastest ways to recover "hidden" products that you're already paying to stock and photograph but aren't selling online.
