How to fix seo product description missing on WooCommerce
Write and publish a 200–400 word product description covering what the product is, its key specs, who it's for, and how to use it.
Steps for WooCommerce
- In your WordPress Admin, go to Products → All Products and click Edit on the target product.
- Scroll to the large Product Description editor (the full-page WordPress block editor or classic editor area at the top of the edit screen — NOT the shorter 'Product short description' box further down).
- Write your 200–400 word description here. The short description box (below Product Data) is a secondary summary; fill it too with 1–2 sentences.
- Click Update to publish. WooCommerce automatically outputs this text inside schema.org Product markup via most themes.
- If you use Yoast SEO or Rank Math, confirm in those plugins' schema settings that the product description is mapped to the schema 'description' property.

}What is seo product description missing?
A product description is the text on a product page that explains what you're selling in your own words. It appears below (or near) the product title and images, and it's the primary way you communicate value to both shoppers and search engines. When this text is missing, Google has nothing to read, index, or show as a search snippet — and potential customers arrive at a page that gives them no reason to buy. A good description is 200–400 words and covers the "four Ws": what it is, key specs/features, who it's for, and how to use it.
Google uses the text on your product page to understand what you sell and match it to relevant search queries — no description means no rankings for the long-tail, buyer-intent searches that drive real sales. It also means Google will either scrape random text from your page to build a search snippet or show nothing useful, making your listing look thin and untrustworthy compared to competitors. Internally, thin product pages are a known signal of low content quality that can drag down the perceived authority of your entire store. From a conversion standpoint, shoppers who can't quickly understand what a product does and whether it's right for them simply leave — a well-written description directly increases add-to-cart rates.
