How to fix seo product missing gtin on Wix eCommerce
Add a GTIN (and/or MPN) field to your Product structured data so Google can match your listings to its product knowledge graph for rich results and Google Shopping.
Steps for Wix eCommerce
- Same as Wix: use the Barcode field in your product catalog for GTIN.
- For programmatic/bulk updates, use the Wix Stores Products API to set the 'productOptions' or 'variants.barcode' field across your catalog.
- Use Velo (Wix Dev Mode) to add a JSON-LD script block to product pages if you need to supplement Wix's auto-generated schema with MPN.
What is seo product missing gtin?
A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is the universal barcode identifier printed on a product — this includes UPC (North America), EAN (Europe), ISBN (books), and others. An MPN (Manufacturer Part Number) is the alphanumeric code a brand uses to identify a specific product variant. When you sell a product that already exists in the real world, Google expects you to declare one or both of these identifiers inside your page's Product structured data (schema markup). Without them, Google cannot confidently connect your product listing to its global product database.
GTINs unlock Google's richest product features: price-comparison panels, Google Shopping free listings, "See buying options" carousels, and AI-powered product matching in Search Generative Experience. Stores with verified GTINs appear in far more commercial queries and enjoy higher click-through rates because their listings carry seller ratings, price, and availability directly in search results. Missing GTINs also mean your products are simply skipped when Google builds its product knowledge graph — your competitors who supply GTINs get those placements instead. For branded or commodity products, a missing GTIN is one of the most impactful omissions you can fix for organic revenue.
