How to fix missing schema localbusiness on Next.js (Headless)
Add LocalBusiness JSON-LD structured data to your store so search engines and AI answer engines can surface your business name, address, phone number, and hours in rich results and direct answers.
Steps for Next.js (Headless)
- Create a reusable `LocalBusinessJsonLd` component at `components/seo/LocalBusinessJsonLd.tsx` that accepts your business data as props and renders a `<script type='application/ld+json'>` tag using Next.js's `<Script>` component (or a plain `<script>` tag inside the component).
- Populate the JSON-LD object with all required and recommended LocalBusiness fields: `@context`, `@type`, `name`, `url`, `telephone`, `address` (PostalAddress), `openingHoursSpecification`, `image`, and `geo` (if available). Source these values from your CMS, environment variables, or a central site-config file (e.g. `lib/site-config.ts`).
- Import and render `<LocalBusinessJsonLd />` in your root layout file (`app/layout.tsx` for the App Router, or `pages/_app.tsx` / `pages/index.tsx` for the Pages Router) so the schema appears on every page — or at minimum on the homepage and contact page.
- For the App Router, place the component inside the `<body>` of `app/layout.tsx` (Next.js will hoist `<script>` tags correctly). For the Pages Router, wrap it with `next/head` using a `<script>` tag with `dangerouslySetInnerHTML`.
- Validate the output with Google's Rich Results Test (https://search.google.com/test/rich-results) and Schema.org Validator (https://validator.schema.org/) to confirm all required fields pass without errors.
- Extend the `@type` to a more specific subtype if applicable (e.g. `ClothingStore`, `FurnitureStore`, `ElectronicsStore`) so AI answer engines and Google can surface even richer results for your category.
What is missing schema localbusiness?
LocalBusiness schema is a block of machine-readable code (called structured data or schema markup) that you embed in your website to formally tell Google, Bing, and AI assistants exactly what your business is: its name, physical address, phone number, opening hours, and more. It uses a universal vocabulary defined at Schema.org so every search engine and AI tool reads it the same way. It sits invisibly inside your page's HTML and never changes what shoppers see — it only speaks to machines. Without it, search engines have to guess your business details from your page text, and they often get it wrong or skip rich features entirely.
LocalBusiness schema directly powers Google's Knowledge Panel, the map pack snippet, and voice-search/AI answers — all of which put your business in front of high-intent shoppers before they even click a result. Stores with complete schema are significantly more likely to appear in zero-click answer boxes and AI-generated responses (AEO — Answer Engine Optimization), driving brand visibility without needing a click. Missing or incomplete schema means a competitor who has it can outrank you in these rich placements even if your page content is identical. For stores with a physical location or local service area, this is one of the highest-leverage, lowest-effort SEO wins available.
