How to fix lifecycle products missing from sitemap on Shopify
Add all canonical product URLs to your XML sitemap so search engines discover and index every product page quickly.
Steps for Shopify
- Shopify auto-generates /sitemap.xml — visit yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml to confirm it lists your products under the <loc> entries in the products sitemap section.
- If products are missing, go to Admin → Products and check each missing product's Status (top-right of the product edit page). Only 'Active' products appear in the sitemap; change any 'Draft' products to 'Active'.
- Check that no product has a 'noindex' tag added by a third-party SEO app: go to Admin → Apps → your SEO app (e.g., SEO Manager, TrueProfit SEO, Plug In SEO) and look for any URL exclusion or 'hide from search engines' settings on those products.
- If you use a custom storefront or headless setup, you must generate and host a sitemap yourself; use the Shopify Storefront API to query all product handles and build the XML.
- Submit the sitemap in Google Search Console: go to GSC → your property → Indexing → Sitemaps → Add a new sitemap → enter 'sitemap.xml' → Submit.
