How to fix missing title on WooCommerce
Add a unique, descriptive title tag (30–60 characters) to every page that is missing one.
Steps for WooCommerce
- Install and activate the free Yoast SEO or Rank Math plugin if not already present — these are the standard tools for managing title tags in WordPress/WooCommerce.
- For a product: go to Products → All Products → select the product → scroll to the Yoast SEO (or Rank Math) meta box below the editor → click the 'SEO title' field and type your title.
- For a shop/category page: go to Products → Categories → select the category → scroll to the Yoast/Rank Math section at the bottom of the edit screen → fill in the SEO title.
- For the homepage or a static page: go to Pages → All Pages → select the page → use the Yoast/Rank Math meta box.
- For global title templates (e.g. auto-format for all products): go to Yoast SEO → Settings → Content types → Products, or Rank Math → Titles & Meta → Products, and set a template like '%title% – %sitename%'.
- Click Update/Publish and verify in the page source that <title> contains your intended text.

The title tag is a short line of HTML — placed inside the `<head>` section of a page — that gives the page its official name. It appears as the clickable blue headline in Google search results, as the tab label in a browser, and as the default text when someone bookmarks or shares your page. Every page on your store should have exactly one title tag, and it should clearly describe what that specific page is about. A missing title tag means Google has to guess a title for you — and its guess is often something unhelpful like your domain name or a snippet of body text.
The title tag is one of the most direct on-page signals Google uses to understand and rank a page — missing it is one of the most impactful single SEO mistakes you can make. Without a title, your listing in search results will look generic or broken, drastically reducing click-through rates and organic traffic. For a product or category page, a weak or missing title can mean shoppers never find it at all, costing you sales that would otherwise come for free. Google's own documentation confirms that a well-crafted title is critical to how your page appears in search and how users decide whether to click.
