How to fix title too short on Elementor
Expand your page title to between 30 and 60 characters so Google displays it fully in search results and shoppers can immediately understand what the page is about.
Steps for Elementor
- In your WordPress dashboard, open the page with the short title in Elementor by going to Pages (or Posts) → find the page → click 'Edit with Elementor'.
- Once inside the Elementor editor, click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top-left corner and select 'Page Settings' (the gear/cog icon at the bottom of the left panel) to open the page's settings panel.
- Scroll down within the Page Settings panel to locate the 'SEO' section — if you have Yoast SEO or Rank Math installed, a dedicated SEO meta box will appear below the Elementor canvas in the WordPress editor view (switch to 'WordPress Editor' mode via the hamburger menu → 'Exit to Dashboard' and then edit the page normally to access it).
- In the SEO plugin's meta box (Yoast SEO: 'SEO title' field under the 'SEO' tab; Rank Math: 'Title' field under the 'General' tab), clear the existing title and type a new one that is between 30 and 60 characters — include your primary keyword and a clear description of the page (e.g., 'Handmade Soy Candles – Free Shipping Over $50').
- Check the character counter or snippet preview within the SEO plugin to confirm the title falls within the 30–60 character range and looks correct in the simulated Google result.
- Click 'Update' (or 'Publish') to save the page, then re-open it in Elementor to verify the displayed page heading still aligns with your new SEO title.
What is title too short?
Every page on your store has a title tag — a short line of text that appears as the blue clickable headline in Google search results and as the tab label in a browser. When that title is too short (under about 30 characters), it typically means it's vague, generic, or missing key details like your product name, brand, or category. A title like "Hats" or "Shop Now" is technically valid HTML, but it tells neither Google nor shoppers what makes your page worth clicking. The sweet spot is roughly 30–60 characters: long enough to be descriptive, short enough to display without being cut off.
Your page title is one of the strongest on-page signals Google uses to understand and rank a page — a weak title means you could rank lower for the very terms your customers are searching. In search results, the title is the first thing a shopper reads before clicking; a short, uninformative title gets skipped for a competitor's more compelling one, directly costing you organic traffic and sales. Google may also rewrite an unhelpfully short title with its own text pulled from your page, which you can't control and which may not represent your product accurately. Fixing thin titles is a quick, high-leverage change that can improve both your rankings and your click-through rate.
